Vintage Nation

 As my final project before baby arrives I was keen to do a good job, but the physical effort of dressing four enormous conference rooms was a bit much so thank god for my helpers from Judy's Affordable Vintage team and Brighton Racecourse. Hope I wasn't too bossy!!

Styling Projects 2012

Dear all,

I'm working on two styling projects at the moment and feel so blessed to be putting my energies into such exciting and brilliant people and plans.

Vintage Nation is a huge Vintage Festival happening in Brighton in June. Ran by Judy Berger of Judy's Affordable Vintage Fair fame, it should be a huge hit. She knows what she’s doing! Tickets will all be very affordable and there will be an enormous selection of Vintage to trawl through. 

Styling for the event so far is including buckets full of wild flowers; projectors playing 20's dancing girls onto walls, a huuugeee amount of bunting to zig zag across rooms, and floor to ceiling piles of vintage books. 

The second project ongoing is working with the brilliant band Thompson Oldman. They are four talented young folk whose band is going from strength to strength. Radio play, London gigs, and a sucessful audition for Live and Unsigned have all happened in the last month. Really original, gorgeous music check it out on the link below! I am styling them to get them as original looking as their music sounds. Lewis (bass) already has a signature top hat and big hair which will soon be matched with lots of similarly novel clothes. Can’t wait to see the finished project at their big final – Derby Live and Unsigned Saturday 14^th April at The Riverside Centre, come along and support them! Hopefully leading onto the O2 Arena later in the year.

Dear All,

Tilley's Vintage Clothes is sadly no more but I have met so many amazing people; learnt so much about life and the universe and been part of so many incredible events that there are no tears being shed at Tilley’s HQ. Far from moping around in a Vintage frock I have been turning my creative fairy wand to interiors.. styling, designing, drooling over the Harrods interiors catalogue and generally discovering that I can put together a gorgeous Vintage look for alot less molah than the average Larry. 

My general inspiration is that of the Old School Circus, a smidge of Theatre and some Shabby Glamour as illustrated below......

If any of this has floated your boat and you would like to see how I could use an element of this style to combine with your stock and create a shop display, shop window or market stall that would draw in customers do get in touch. 

I am offering 5 shop keepers or market stall owners a free design, style and installation. This will help build my portfolio and hopefully meet lots more wonderful people in the process! We can work together to come up with a design or idea that I will go away and work on. You will give me the date you need the window or stall completed and a budget (for items mentioned further down). I’ll then present you with a finished plan and suggested pricing (for the installation ... wires, pins etc and any items that we don’t already have between us, such as balloons, fabric etc. My time, designs and travel are free).

The offer is open to UK shop owners or stall holders.  I reserve the right to choose the final 3 with travelling priorities in mind.

How exciting! The fields of Brum have been waiting for a Tilley's comeback for a while. Back in the day I went to Uni in Edgbaston and Digbeth was my favourite hang out, so I'm very excited to be bringing Tilley's Vintage to Digbeth on Saturday 4th June.

December 2010: Past, Present and Future.

It is such a cliche but this year has just disappeared. Last week I was struggling to realise what I'd achieved after setting myself such huge goals for the year, but today it has all come together. Here is Tilley's list of achievements over the last 12 months; what is currently occurring and what I hope to bring to my 2011. I do hope this inspires you to take stock of what positives have occurred this year and what you want to achieve in the next!

Last 12 Months

1. A Summer of festivals! Including the amazing Vintage at Goodwood, Beach Break and Hop Farm in Kent.
2. Successfully completed a tax return : )
3. Made Tilley's Vintage a part time venture by reducing my 'day job' !
4. Some glam outfits - notably the Beach Break little black mini flapper dress and lady gaga glasses, red floaty maxi with feathered hat and the beehive hair with 50's velvet evening gown!
5. On a less glamorous note I have learnt what to look out for when buying a second hand van!

Presently

1. Meditating
2. Being a devotional Yogi
3. Completing Business and Life Plans for 2011
4. Healing
5. Watching the snow

2011

1. I shall start saving for the future
2. Tilleys will have a full time owner by May
3. Tilleys will relocate to the Midlands countryside in the little cottage that has been on my mind forever
4. Another summer of festivals and outfits!
5. 3000 views per month on the blog

Tilley's Vintage Christmas Pop up Shops.

Hi all. As promised here are the up and coming Christmas fairs/ Pop up Shops I shall be attending and organising:

- Judy's Affordable Vintage Fair - The Hospitium York. Thursday 9th December. 4pm till 9pm.

- Tilley's Vintage Pop up Shop at The Red Lion, York. (Opposite Banana Ware house). Sunday 12th December 5pm till 9pm. Free Cupcakes and a great student friendly selection as well as the normal quality vintage. Also will have the bigger Men's Selection available.

- Tilley's Vintage and Moira Sews Vintage will be throwing another grown up Vintage Fair at VJ's Art Bar. This time with a Christmas theme: Homemade mince pies and bubbly on the door. Sunday 19th December. 5pm till 8pm. Last minute Christmas shopping bargains R Us!

A huge amount of you have asked recently about what men's stuff I do and I have had to turn you to a very small rail of a few cowboy shirts and two (very gorgeous) suits. So the men's wear department I declare well and truly open!! Manchester's Vintage Fair

Manchester is my new love - damn I have somewhere else I want to live!

Subcity under the railway arches just off Oxford Road held the ever present Judy Berger's Manchester Affordable Vintage Fair.

Tilley's Vintage had almond and lemon cupcakes, floral vintage plates, a sexy candle burning and a corner full of dresses.
